Mem 2.0, released spring 2025, represents a huge leap over version 1.0—boasting far greater speed, intelligence, and stability. Until now, Mem was merely my “main” note-taking app; today it’s quite simply my number one. Why? Because you're terrible at organizing, yet love the feeling of being organized—and Mem excels at stitching your thoughts together into a coherent web of insights. First, the basics: feel free to structure your notes however you like—folders, tags, or free-form. You tend to tag sparingly, trusting Mem’s AI to spot links you’d never have thought of. The new “Connections” view surfaces relevant notes automatically, so ideas you wrote weeks or months ago reappear exactly when you need them. The upgraded chat interface is now on par with leading language models—only better because it “knows” your own vault. Ask it to draft an outline, summarize yesterday’s brainstorm, or build on a half-finished thought, and it taps your personal archive, not a generic web corpus. This context awareness transforms chat from a novelty into a genuine workflow booster. Importing remains a work in progress (wider format support and smoother migration would be welcome), but even today Mem handles basic transfers quickly and accurately. As import capabilities expand, I expect the app’s value to rise further. Mem AI and its chat feature help me create a Personal Language Model
Mem's AI integration has been a game-changer for me. It's like having a personal assistant who helps me create content, answer questions, and brainstorm ideas. This not only saves me time but also allows me to focus on refining my thoughts and expressing them more effectively. Moreover, it has encouraged me to consistently add to my knowledge base. The more I put into Mem, the better the AI works. I include meeting notes, video and article summaries, highlights from my Kindle book, blog posts, tweets, and other content and topics that I study, write about, and keep track of.
