Best Features of Apple Journal

These are some of the key features of the Apple Journal, the daily digital diary with AI.

1. Machine Learning

Apple Journal uses on-device machine learning to help create journal prompts and to understand more about you and the way you want to use the Apple Journal.

Machine learning is essentially a system that will learn and adapt from how you use your device without any instructions. This is how AI works with Apple Journaling, it will automatically give you prompts from memories, places you have been and location all from data on your device.

All data is stored on your device too, so you dont have to worry about any third parties or data leaks. Apple Journal is a private journaling app.

2. AI Journal Prompts

The main feature of Apple Journal is its AI journal prompts. This helps users create a habit of journaling from their images, media and memories. AI will bring up certain images, recent or in the past to journal about with written prompts.

These prompts will also automatically pull up the location or music you have listened to around this time to enhance your memory and your journal entry.

This is a really great way to reflect and create a habit of gratitude journaling with your existing images and media. Gratitude journaling helps improve your mental health and lifestyle by positively reflecting on experiences and appreciating your memories.

3. Reminders to Journal

Apple Journal wants you to create a better habit of reflection and journaling to work towards improving your mental health. Journaling helps users express their emotions, reflect, show gratitude and appreciate the moments they experience.

Apple Journal will bring up your day's events with images and guide you towards writing about them. This of course helps with journaling daily to reflect and create a habit of thinking about your day, what happened, and the things you are grateful for.

Who is Apple Journal best for?

Apple Journal is a good choice for any iOS user. This app will work alongside other well-being apps readily available on an iPhone to create a closer connection to personal development and well-being.

Journaling is always a good choice for anyone to get started with. However, it seems that the Apple Journal makes it really easy for anyone to reflect on nice things, photos, places they have been, and more.

On the otherhand, AI cannot tell the difference between a good memory or a bad one, so you may end up being prompted to reflect on a moment you would rather not. This is something many people have spoken about as a problem.

Underutilize, but seamless experience

Apple Journal is great at saving multi-format data as a journal, such as images, GPS, and audio and text. That's what I really like about it. When I say I don't use it often, I don't add my own journal entries. Usually each time I go out, there is a suggested journal, and that's the one feature that I really love and appreciate because I don't have to go through the hassle of selecting pictures and adding all this detail to my journal. It's just automatic, it just pops up and I can just add a bit of context. So I spend maybe less than 5 minutes each time I interact with the app, and that's a good thing because I don't want to spend most of my time on a single app.
