Super fast and feature-rich with a practical object-based system

I've been using Anytype for over a year, and it has quickly become one of my favorite tools. The app stands out for its incredible speed and smooth performance, making daily use a delight. Its object-based system might feel a bit complex at first, but once you understand how it works, it becomes an extremely practical and flexible way to organize your information. One of the standout aspects of Anytype is the mobile app, which offers a seamless experience. Whether you're on the go or switching between devices, it just works. The wide range of features is another highlight—there’s so much depth to what you can do, from managing data to customizing your workflow. I also have to mention the widget system, which is well-designed and adds a layer of personalization and functionality that really enhances productivity. It’s rare to find an app that is both feature-rich and easy to use, but Anytype strikes the perfect balance. Overall, I absolutely love using Anytype. It’s clear that a lot of thought and care has gone into creating a tool that’s both powerful and user-friendly. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a versatile and fast productivity app!

App with a lot of potential

Anytype has really emerged as a solid Notion alternative with its own twists. The object based approach is very intuitive however quite confusing in terms of how Anytype implements it. That's one of the major problems that hinder the usability of Anytype. The UI is beautiful and the sync is almost instant between devices. Performance wise it is mostly robust. It is still evolving and the team is working on polishing it as well. It has a lot of potential and will surely become a very proficient tool in the near future.

So many possibilities

Understanding how the app works is kinda hard at first but here's a summary. Imagine a file manager. You keep files in different folders. In Anytype there are no folders. There are just files that have different properties and you create different filters based on the properties. So that a file can exist in multiple filters (folders) at the same time. Along with that it's local first, E2E encrypted, and fast. You just have to learn to see things differently in order to solve simple problems in Anytype which will is a downside for a huge market. But the people that are willing to go through the learning curve will be able to create amazing things with it. For most people who need simple note taking and to-do list, this app isn't for you.

Migrated to AnyType from Obsidian

As a long time user of Obsidian transitioning to AnyType was a mind shift, as the approach to PKM is vastly different. AnyType is a freshingly different far more polished, there are less distractions and far more focus on the content. All the learnings I had from Obsidian templates and workflows was applied to AnyType with some carefully thought out improvements in my AnyType spaces. AnyType have done a tremendous job with their importation from other noting taking applications. The thing I like best about AnyType is it takes away all of the focus from administation so I can just focus on productivity, Note-Taking and reflection. Excellent job AnyType.

Secure, Offline first & Customisable Note-Taking

Anytype is a solid app for note-taking and kind of a personal knowledge management. It stands out for its strong focus on privacy and offline functionality. You don’t need to worry about your data being stored online, and that’s a big plus for privacy-conscious users. The app is highly customisable. You can create your own workflows and organise information the way you want. But it’s not the easiest to use at first. The interface takes some time to get used to, and there are still a few bugs here and there. However, I have been using it since the 2023 Alpha stage, and I can easily overlook them. If you’re looking for a secure, flexible tool that works offline, Anytype is worth a try. Just be ready for a bit of a learning curve.

Great Idea! Missing Some Features

I have overall really enjoyed working with Anytype. The product's flexibility is great, and has some fantastic relational features. However, it does lack some core functions that make it a worth-while alternative to the likes of Notion and Coda. It does not have a great 'Formula' System right now, which means it cannot do mathematical properties very well for any of the table components. It also does not has an API, which restrictions it connections with other applications. If these two additions were added, this product would be an easy pick, but for now, it is not worth the investment compared to other similar Second Brain systems.

Amazing UI, Bad UX

Anytype is a great local tool that's very pretty and nice to use. I've used it over a year for my studies and it has been reliable because I can access it anytime, anywhere. However, my main gripe with AnyType is navigating the UI as it's a bit weird, it doesn't feel as seamless as other tools like Notion, Evernote, and Reflect. I left Anytime because of this

Amazing potential

Even with the free sub, the potential of the app is crazy.

Good notion offline alternative

Probably the closest offline notion alternative. But the object based setup looks weird to me. But overall loved the approach of privacy and local first approach.
