Evernote have built better bridges between calendar and Microsoft Outlook, but also hint beyond calendar to scheduling powers in app.
Evernote has some interesting news today: they're launching their new Microsoft Outlook calendar integration, and this will be available in their latest version of 10.79 and higher.
This is one of the most requested features, so let's dig into what's new and how you can access it within the likes of Evernote and what this news means for the future of Evernote.
This was one of the most requested Evernote features, and something that I've been keeping an eye on for many weeks now as they've been working on this beta.
Essentially, this allows you to connect your Microsoft Outlook 365 to the likes of the Evernote calendar, and once you've synced there, all of your Microsoft Outlook events will start coming through. This means you can easily create and access event-specific notes.
This connects your calendar, linking notes automatically with all the original event information with the note, which will allow you to have date, location, and meeting participants all connected so that you can share it with other people or maybe even just collaborate straight away.
Now, this is particularly helpful because you have the ability in the recent update to actually share the note with the participant as well, even if they're not using the likes of Evernote, which is a newer feature that they hadn't quite got ready for the beta, at least from what I saw on Twitter.
Now, the new Outlook integration is apparently not the only step they're working on, but they also want to focus on more calendar abilities, for example, the ability to create an event in Evernote calendar and see it reflected in your external calendar.
This will make Evernote into a fully functional scheduling tool and an option to add tasks and reminders to your calendar so that you can see a unified daily overview, which would simplify the planning process apparently for better task management.
Now, this wasn't the only release that Evernote produced in terms of calendar.
On the sidebar on the desktop version, you can access a full-view calendar mode, which goes into a full-screen mode that allows you to access everything all at once.
Now, the calendar is actually available for those free users now, so you can get access to it as well as personal, professional, and team users.
Personal users can connect one external calendar; however, professional and team users can connect up to five, which is practical so you can get started with.
